Hi! My name is Lady! I am a 6 year old, 60 pound, female, black and tan German Shepherd. I was picked-up off the streets of Raleigh and sent to the Wake County Animal Shelter. I was sure my family would come and get me but they never did. I know I looked kind 'a funny, not like the other dogs, but everyone at the shelter told me I was beautiful. I guess I gave them too much loving because they came and told me my "time was up". Everyone looked very sad. But then someone came and said "We have a foster!!!"
A couple days later I went for a long car ride with my new Foster Mom & Dad. I was really good in the car. I LOVE to ride! We went back to their farm in the country. I was so happy! I got to run in the backyard, roll on the grass, smell all kinds of new things, and then the best part....I got to meet some of my new house mates! I live with three other dogs and six cats. I love to play with the other dogs, especially the little Chihuahua. She is my little buddy, my favorite playmate. The cats don't interest me at all, but I do like to give them lots of kisses. I also live with two very large dogs that live outside in a barn. Mom says they're called horses not dogs. And then there's these funny looking friends, called Llamas, that live here too. I barked at them when I first met them but not anymore. We're all friends here on the farm.
Remember when I told you I looked funny? Well, I picked up some kind of skin condition and somehow all the hair on my back fell out. I was naked! SGSR and my foster Mom made sure I got the best care. I got a special bath (with massages) every week and after a month, ALL my hair was back! Now I look like everybody else!
Besides playing with my little playmate, squeaky toys are my favorite things to play with. We have lots of toys here and I like to scatter them all over the house. I like long walks as long as I am tethered to my foster Mom. She might get away if I don't. I have a micro-chip, but she does not. My foster Dad gets a little jealous because I am always right at Moms feet, all the time! This may be why Mom calls me a "Velcro dog". I am a great protector and very loyal. I may be a petite girl but I have SO much love to give.
My foster Mom wants you to know all the things that make me an awesome dog. I am spayed, housebroken, crate trained, have manners, good with kids of all ages, good with male and female dogs, good with cats, and when properly introduced, good with strangers. I love everybody, but I will pick out a favorite person. I am kind of possessive of my favorite human but gentle reminders of "it's not your turn" usually corrects me. My foster Mom is working with me to correct my one bad habit. I bark if I'm in the yard and she walks away. I want to go with her all the time. I might have a little separation anxiety.
If you're looking for a playful, loyal, "Lady" who loves to cuddle and just be with you, look no further!
I am ready to find my furever family and hope you are also looking fur me!
